We believe in a vision of ending child poverty in Wisconsin. We believe that the people of Wisconsin, working together, can cut child poverty in half in the next ten years. Seeking greater equity, our vision includes cutting racial disparities in child poverty in half. We are committed to evidence-based evaluation of progress.

No child, anywhere, should ever go hungry, but the fact that children, here, in the richest country in the world, in a state that has more than enough for all of its citizens, should be hungry, is shameful.

We have a whole generation growing up in poverty.

These are people who feel shut out of our society, abandoned by our culture, unable to navigate the world of finance and increasingly angry. Unless we pay attention, there will be class warfare and eventually the demise of our society as we have known it.

The trend of expanding poverty in Wisconsin is an abysmal expression of who we have come to be. We must be better than this.

Early childhood and children are greatly affected by poverty and other childhood traumas. This carries on through the years, even as adults as is verified by studies. SAVE the CHILDREN.

No child should have to live in poverty. I volunteer at an elementary school where 90% of the families live in poverty. This cause trauma to these children and affects their learning potential.

I think we need to address child poverty in Wisconsin and center Black children, as Wisconsin has some of the worst statistics in the country when it comes to wellness for Black families.

Children are the future. Every child has gifts important to our community. Food on the table, a Quiet clean bed to rest and sleep, a place to play and but loved, and in our winter climate: warm outer clothes besides the basic necessary everyday wear. Let’s see to it..Now!
