Endorse Our Vision of Ending Child Poverty in Wisconsin

Note, if you have collected offline petitions, instead of entering them yourself here please email them as an excel file to bakken@wichurches.org

We believe in a vision of ending child poverty in Wisconsin. We believe that the people of Wisconsin, working together, can cut child poverty in half in the next ten years. Seeking greater equity, our vision includes cutting racial disparities in child poverty in half. We are committed to evidence-based evaluation of progress.

A clear legislative goal: the best way to do so is to write the bill for them. It’s not as difficult as it sounds and it has the best chance at being reviewed by legislators that you submit it to.

Children are our future and in order for them to be productive to society they must be Educated and Healthy. Besides it’s the right thing to do.

Child poverty tragically and adversely affects health, learning ability, self-worth, and the overall wholeness of children. Child poverty steals dignity. Child poverty kills. In a country as wealthy as the US there is no reason we cannot solve child poverty.

How can we have children living in poverty in the same country where we have so many living in luxury? It’s shameful !

They are our future. We need to break the cycle of poverty which has such a ripple effect.

Childhood poverty is an adverse childhood experience. Why does Wisconsin fund more to incarcerate people than to invest in our children so they won’t ever be incarcerated? We need to budget more for education and stop the insanity of setting people up to fail. Let’s invest in our children’s future so they can be successful, contributing members of our society. All children deserve a better life!

People themselves at times need to get involved directly, because our politicians, in their busy world, at times, do not know all the statistics. So, consequently, at times, they need help from us, their constituents.
