We believe in a vision of ending child poverty in Wisconsin. We believe that the people of Wisconsin, working together, can cut child poverty in half in the next ten years. Seeking greater equity, our vision includes cutting racial disparities in child poverty in half. We are committed to evidence-based evaluation of progress.

If we don’t “front load” the programs necessary to end child poverty, we will surely need to invest more in adult “consequences of neglect” programs down the road. The choice is stark and immediate. Wisconsin’s children belong to all of us.

The effects of income inequality are well established and far reaching. Children in poverty start off behind from the start. That hurts all of us but most strongly, those bearing the heavy brunt of poverty.
